Database Spotlight - Home Grown eBook Collection

In today's Database Spotlight, the lightning bolt is going to hit the 
NC Live Home Grown eBook Collection! 

As a student or faculty member at LR, you have access to wonderful library resources*. Some of the resources are provided to us by NC Live and you have access to them because you live in North Carolina. How cool is that? This database is one of them.

The Home Grown eBook Collection is a collection of hundreds of ebooks curated by NC Live. Explore all the genres from academic literature to poetry to fiction and much more. There are so many to find and devour, either for research or pleasure...and if you're lucky...both! 

You can access the ebooks on your computer and/or download them to an e-reader using the Biblioboard app. It is super easy. Want to know the BEST part? These ebooks are a "permanent part" of the NC Live collection and they have unlimited and simultaneous user access! That means  NC Live will always have these ebooks available to you and you don't have to place the books you desire on hold while you wait for availability. Hooray!

Remember, if you are off campus, you will need to log-in to use library resources. 
For username - enter your last name
For password - enter the letters "lr" followed by your student ID number, omitting any leading zeros.
Password example - lr654321

Updates and FAQs on the New Library Search

I've been getting a lot questions about the new library website and library search lately. I want to cover a few Frequently Asked Questions about our new search service, Summon and share a video I made recently on how to use it. PLAY VIDEO HERE FAQs  Why do I get so many results? Summon searches about 100 online resources—most of our electronic collection and all of our ebooks!  That includes a number of large e-journal collections, not available through PowerSearch—scholarly journal collections from publishers like Wiley, Sage, Elsevier, and Springer.  We’ve also added selected open access content sources as well.
